Description
Manulife’s Real Estate Accounting business is looking for a Real Estate Accountant to join the team. You will be responsible for assisting the accounting and reporting operation of our global portfolio of commercial real estate assets that includes office, industrial, and retail properties. In this role you will work with the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end property accounting financial statements and conduct comprehensive business-focused various financial analysis. In addition, you may participate in special projects and process improvements while ensuring accounting processes are driven efficiently and effectively across the portfolio.
Position Responsibilities:
Ensure all suspense accounts are reconciled and in good standing each month; research and resolve DDA reconciliation exceptions and out-of-balance items within established timeframes.
Perform timely and accurate monthly reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger account analysis, including basic financial reporting and gain/loss tracking.
Collaborate with operations partners to identify and implement operational improvements that prevent new suspense items and enhance reconciliation efficiency.
Support account reconciliation functions such as ACH transmission verification, manual checks, outgoing wires, and billing activities.
Respond promptly to ad hoc reporting requests and participate in special projects focused on standardization, optimization, and reporting tool development.
Serve as a resource for fund events, including launches, liquidations, mergers, and seed capital repatriations.
Required Qualifications:
University degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience
Familiarity with accounting principles
Minimum 3-5 years in related Real Estate accounting field preferred
Knowledge of Yardi and Infor highly preferred
Strong computer skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (at least intermediate proficiency), Word & PowerPoint
Highly attentive to detail and organized with proven ability to meet assigned deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior financial services industry experience preferred
Excel skills (Pivot table, advanced formulas, Essbase, etc)
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work within a team-focused environment

Salary range is expected to be between
$55,125.00 CAD - $91,875.00 CADIf you are applying for this role outside of the primary location, please contact recruitment@manulife.com for the salary range for your location.
