AVP, Sourcing and Procurement Operations, Tower Lead

The AVP, Sourcing and Procurement Operations - Tower Lead reports to the VP Procurement, North America and is responsible for developing and leading a team for sourcing and procurement operations that would focus on improving procurement lead times, identifying and executing process improvement and strategic sourcing opportunities and developing/publishing recurring dashboards highlighting areas for improvement. It is preferred to have a process improvement or six sigma background, and demonstrated expertise in building operations functions. The leader will also be responsible for bringing industry expertise helping shape procurement strategies and initiatives to build value. This position is responsible for delivering procurement and sourcing services during a period of transformation when procurement is focused on adopting industry trends and working in a more agile manner.

A diligent professional with strong leadership skills, ability to get into details, have a problem solving mindset and procurement expertise with experience in a large sophisticated matrix organization is preferred.

Position Responsibilities

  • Accountable to lead all aspects of and implement a cohesive sourcing and procurement operations team. While the preference is procurement operations, however the role has opportunity to lead sourcing of select categories or deals to provide the right platform
  • Develop and lead a robust team
  • Experience with CLM system and AI tools is highly preferred to help define and implement the process for such tools
  • Recommend improvement areas with the current P2P tool to help increase speed of resolution of a request and increase customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborating and coordinate amongst various internal partners from initial need identification to final goods or service delivery to ensure alignment and meet partner needs, including the role’s counterpart in Asia.
  • Relationship building with key vendors, and internal key partners to ensure efficient pricing structures and efficiencies.
  • Lead overall team career development and ensure skills and staffing levels align to current tactical and strategic agenda.
  • Be responsible for end-to-end sourcing and contracting activities.
  • Subject matter authority in Sourcing categories
  • Experience in implementation of P2P system implementation or procurement process improvement preferred
  • Participate in business-to-business relationships with strategic vendors to improve value extraction and performance.
  • Contribute to development and continuous improvement of policies, standards, processes and tools within the procurement organization.
  • Deliver North American Procurement Tower strategy increase procurement brand awareness and ensure consistent messaging.
  • Find opportunities to exploit technology-driven solutions and demonstrate appropriate data/analytics.
  • Prepare and publish KPI driven dashboards.
  • Required to prepare and present outcomes and deliverables to executive management

Required Qualifications

  • Business experience in supply chain management and/or vendor management at a senior level (10 years’ experience minimum).
  • Qualification in supply chain or finance including an MBA preferred
  • Background in FinTech services preferred, experience in large, sophisticated organizations is nice to have
  • Prior Experience in a Management Consulting firm preferred
  • Tech-savvy and future focused with in-depth understanding and application of vendor management of sourcing and procurement principles and standard methodologies
  • Experience with sourcing and procurement systems and tools
  • Solid analytical skills
  • Understanding of standard contractual terms and conditions to mitigate legal and business risk
  • Experience in vendor governance and risk management
  • Knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory requirements relating to management of third-party outsourcing in the jurisdictions in which Manulife operates
  • A track record of progressing new insights, processes and strategies across a large, matrixed organization.

Salary range is expected to be between

$123,400.00 CAD - $229,300.00 CAD
