Associate Product Manager, Pharmacy Benefits

Manulife Group Benefits is seeking an energetic, results-oriented Associate Product Manager to join our Product Team to support our Pharmacy benefits portfolio. Pharmacy benefits represent the single largest area of core benefit spend for most employers. It is also a dynamic and evolving area of focus within Group Benefits.

The Associate Product Manager is a subject matter expert who supports the needs of internal constituencies, our distribution partners and Group Benefits clients. To be successful in the role, the candidate will possess not only experience in product management but will also possess superior relationship management, communication and influencing skills. The Group Benefits Product team is responsible for the development and implementation of products and solutions as well as external and internal communications.

This is a Hybrid opportunity in our Toronto, Waterloo and Halifax offices, where you will come into the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and can work from home on Monday and Friday.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Accountable and support product development and overall management of product portfolio, appropriately balancing financial, reputational, sales and persistency risk

  • Develop and launch of new product features and services, as well as act as subject matter expert for existing offerings.

  • Become a product owner for specific Manulife offerings and be accountable to a product’s life cycle, including ideation, validation, prototyping, launch and improvement.

  • Evaluate industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive environment.

  • Partner closely with key stakeholders to gain acceptance and support for direction and to ensure collaborative execution, leveraging sound business cases

  • Lead cross-functional teams in product development initiatives, ensuring that projects are implemented according to plan and that any issues are resolved promptly and effectively.

  • Collaborate closely with PBM and internal partners to ensure full execution of plan design updates, changes and implementation

  • Manage positive relationships, expectations and risk with external vendors.

  • Influence change and be responsive to the evolving world of pharmacy benefits.

  • Field inquiries and support sales and clients in understanding pharmacy benefits.

  • Participate in industry events and cultivate positive relationships within the industry.

  • Participate in customer, advisor and industry presentations.

  • Develop and deliver sales training and presentations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of specific business experience.

  • In-depth knowledge/experience of product development and management within the financial services business

  • Strong business acumen with deep knowledge of pharmacy benefits and PBM's

  • Excellent interpersonal, motivational, and relationship-building skills

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including a developed ability to present to audiences of varying backgrounds and expertise

  • Working experience with multi-project management portfolio and agile approaches

  • Ability to create and support business cases as well as other financial or operational analytics

  • Strong planning and project management skills, with a proven ability to execute concurrent projects within tight timeframes

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills

  • Strong aptitude for collaboration, influence, negotiation and change management

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple, and sometimes changing, priorities

  • Strategic thinker with good judgment and strong understanding of process

  • Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, PowerBI

Salary range is expected to be between

$68,775.00 CAD - $114,625.00 CAD
