Associate, Business Management, Private Markets

Position Overview: The Associate will play a crucial role in supporting the Private Markets business objectives, optimizing operations, and ensuring the Private Markets teams remains competitive within the industry. This position requires a professional with 2-3 years of experience in investment banking, consulting, or asset management, who possesses strong strategic thinking and presentation skills, and has a keen interest in alternative asset management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support ongoing strategy efforts in support of senior Leadership with the goal to facilitate more efficient fact-based business decisions. Recommend solutions based on research and analysis completed.

  • Lead assigned strategic initiatives and projects. Role will be responsible for creating business cases and gaining commitment from leadership to proposed strategy and implementation plan. When in execution mode, also responsible for providing business input and tracking the project to ensure it meets business objective, completed on time and within budget.

  • Effectively communicate with department leaders, project sponsor, senior Leadership and colleagues to create consensus on key objectives and strategies for assigned projects. Represent Manulife for cross business unit projects and committees.

  • Lead effective non-financial business planning, strategy and market research discussions with senior staff.

  • Evaluate and assess risks related to the operating model and collaborate with business partners to develop strategies to mitigate those risks.

  • Support the integration of new technology or software tools that improve business operations and lead working groups with business partners to ensure successful implementation.

  • Support Business Management team with ad hoc logistical needs for senior leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.

  • 2-3 years of experience in investment banking, consulting, or asset management strategy.

  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated interest in alternative asset management and operating models.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, Power Platform, Outlook, Teams).

Salary range is expected to be between

$71,925.00 CAD - $119,875.00 CAD
