Description
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Manager, Digital PMO to lead a team of Project Managers in driving the successful execution of Mackenzie Health’s digital initiatives. As the Manager, Digital PMO, you will ensure rigorous adherence to scope, timelines, cost controls, and risk mitigation-all in alignment with key clinical and business objectives. You will oversee the full project lifecycle, from business case development and procurement/vendor management to planning, execution, and project closure.
Reporting to the Vice President, Digital Health & Chief Information Officer (CIO), you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive the successful implementation of Mackenzie Health’s digital initiatives. Your role will be integral to coordinating, prioritizing, managing, and optimizing project execution across all Digital Health portfolios, including Clinical Informatics, Infrastructure, Applications & Integrations, Cybersecurity, and Enterprise Systems.
Contribute to safe, quality care by:
- Provide hands on leadership and oversight for the development of project plans, scope definition, timelines and execution ensuring appropriate structure while allowing agility and/or flexibility.
- Develop and ensure the adoption of Project Management framework/methodology including standardized processes and tools that are suitable to the project planning, execution and close-out of digital initiatives.
- Provide oversight on the development of business cases, budgets and external proposals.
- Manage the implementation of projects and ensure timely execution in a manner that supports both internal and external stakeholders.
- Support project prioritization and execution via risk identification and mitigation, issue resolution; appropriate time and capacity management; and cost management.
- Use appropriate interpersonal skills to influence the decision-making process of cross-functional teams across the organization.
- Collaborate with hospital staff and leadership to ensure the achievement of strategic goals as they relate to decision-making, education, implementation, ongoing evaluation, maintenance and upgrading of technologies and clinical information systems used throughout the hospital.
- Build stakeholder relationships with the MOHLTC, Central Region, Epic Harmony Collaborative, hospitals, community and systems partners to understand and solve problems collaboratively.
- Cultivate a high-performing, collaborative team culture that emphasizes accountability, learning, and shared success.
- Responsible for the management, leadership and organizational effectiveness of the team of project managers and any future related positions, inclusive of all matters relating to the human and financial resources.
- Prepare and is responsible for the monitoring of the department project budget ensuring efficient and effective use of funds to achieve corporate objectives.
- Coordinate, manage and lead the team delivering innovative solutions through various internal and external projects.
- Responsible for the maintenance of PMO templates and tools, utilizing industry frameworks.
- Review all key project management artifacts and deliverables, including project charters, resources, risks, schedule and budget.
- Responsible for PMO procedures and project governance ensuring that project management standards, processes are adhered to.
- Communicate overall business objectives to project managers and conduct annual goal setting and performance reviews.
- Coach and support project managers in applying project management best practices and methodologies.
- Escalate and alert potential risks and provide suggestions of improving process and controls to reduce risk.
Qualifications?
- Undergraduate Degree in health informatics, computer science, business administration or equivalent combination of education and experience. Masters degree preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Designate is an asset.
- ITIL Certification an asset.
What else do you bring?
- Minimum of 5 years of project management experience preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years experience working in a health care environment.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing and improving the digital maturity at a healthcare facility.
- Creative analytical and strategic thinker with strong project management, workflow, problem solving and implementation skills.
- Expert knowledge of project management frameworks and methodologies.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal skills with exceptional verbal, written communication and conflict management skills with strong initiative to achieve high standards of service and performance.
- Professionalism, attention to detail and focused customer service ethic.
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple demands concurrently.
- Results driven; an ability to focus on results and outcomes, while managing business/organizational risk.
- Experience leading development teams creating multi-system solutions, system integration decision support and/or informatics solution development in a healthcare setting.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Superior experience with Microsoft Office applications including Project and Visio.
- Time management and organizational abilities including demonstrated ability to problem solve, prioritize a varied workload and function in a changing and stressful work environment.
- Leadership abilities including the abilities to teach, direct and motivate staff.
- Strong systems thinking and focus.
- Strong research skills using the Internet and other resources.
- Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
- Effectively uses empathy in interactions with others.
