Purolator Digital Labs
Purolator Digital Lab (PDL) is a division of Purolator Inc. that is dedicated to the rapid development and engineering of technologies. Our goal is to deliver technology to enable Purolator to be the premier freight, parcel, and logistics provider in Canada. The PDL is a well-funded startup within Purolator, a progressive and profitable Canadian company.
The PDL is developing several systems to drive new business for Purolator and our strategic partners. We are looking for a Software Development Lead to join our team.
The Role
As a Software Development Lead, you’ll have the opportunity to lead all team activities, from client requirements to delivery of the solution. As a Senior member of the team, you’ll help management improve the process and provide mentorship for your team-mates.
You will work closely with clients, both within Purolator and beyond. You will work to understand their needs and actively contribute towards all areas of software solutions.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing code across a range of languages (including mobile and infrastructure), with a focus on initial quality and encouraging best practices.
- Creating and improving CI/CD pipelines and processes, to ship frequently and safely
- Mentoring and course-correcting the work of less experienced team-mates
- Making the tough architectural and design decisions
- Self-managing your workload in a dynamic and fast paced environment
- Occasional travel to visit Purolator facilities and clients of solutions
- Lead the roll out of solutions to market, including writing good documentation and putting out technical fires.
With a broad full-stack scope, you will work with a range of technologies such as:
- .NET C#, Python, React for service development
- Java Kotlin, Flutter + Dart for mobile applications
- Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform
- Postgres, cloud data stores, Redis, and MongoDB
- Azure Dev Ops and/or Jira/GitHub for version control, work assignment and releases
- Cloud providers: Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud.
- Visual Studio Code and device-specific IDEs (ex. XCode)
Ideal candidates would:
- Have 7+ years of experience as a Senior or Lead Software Developer, ideally in a product development role
- Demonstrate skills in learning technologies, adopting new services and products
- Enjoy the agile process with customers and clients of your solution
- Effectively communicate, present, and write documentation
- Find joy in helping teammates achieve their goals
- Live in Ontario, Canada.
- This role is hybrid-remote and will supplement a team located in Southern Ontario. Beautiful desk space is available in Kitchener, Ontario or Mississauga, Ontario.
