  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with management software (asset).

Education

  • High school diploma

Working Conditions

  • Must be available 3 weekends out of 4; Friday availability is a strong asset.
  • Part-time, variable schedule: approximately 15 hours per week based on your availability.

FRENCH LANGUAGE IS NEEDED - Your experience in customer service, your empathy, and your desire to hold a meaningful job are your greatest assets.

The Funeral Service Attendant reports to the Funeral Coordinator and is entrusted with providing families and visitors with exceptional reception and support during visitations and funeral services. This person responds to families’ needs, provides necessary information, and ensures every interaction is marked by respect and compassion. They may also be called upon to manage unforeseen situations during visitations and ceremonies.

Your Daily Responsibilities Within the Cooperative

Before the visitation begins

  • Open the visitation rooms.
  • Check the coffee machine and its supplies (cups, sugar, milk).
  • Arrange flowers in a harmonious manner.
  • Ensure proper functioning of installations and equipment available to families (lighting, heating, ventilation, sound system, etc.).

During the visitation

  • Provide warm customer service and demonstrate genuine hospitality.
  • Welcome families upon arrival.
  • Set up appropriate event signage.
  • Coordinate transfers to the chapel and accompany the immediate family with the urn or casket.
  • Serve light refreshments and assist with family catering services.
  • Ensure access is clear for pallbearers, when necessary.
  • Provide families with required documents before departure.
  • Check files for pending signatures or payments.
  • Collect payments, if required.

After visitation hours

  • Ensure cleanliness of visitation rooms, ceremonial hall, restrooms, and entrance doors/windows, as needed.
  • Reset rooms and return items to designated places.
  • Empty trash bins and dispose of them properly.
  • Organize the waiting area.
  • Verify that all exits are locked before leaving.
