KPMG’s Department of Professional Practice (DPP) is hiring Managers to support the Audit & Assurance practice. Roles in DPP are aligned to one of three focus areas:
- Audit Quality
- Audit Documentation Workflow
- Audit Methodology
While each position has a primary focus, all three roles work closely together to deliver consistent, practical guidance and support to engagement teams across Canada.
What you will do
Across all roles, the individual will collaborate with DPP leaders, Professional, Practice Partners, Risk Management, Information Technology Services, and other national groups on cross-functional initiatives and day-to-day practice support. Individuals are expected to produce clear, high-quality written deliverables (guidance, communications, summaries, and training materials) that are easy for engagement teams to apply.
In addition to the work stated above, responsibilities will vary by focus area and may include:
Audit Quality
Support audit quality programming which includes quality management, KPI measurement, and monitoring initiatives.
Experience with monitoring programs, quality initiatives, root-cause themes, or quality management processes.
Support the execution and appropriate evidencing of DPP processes within the System of Quality Management (ISQM 1), including documentation required for national stakeholders.
Audit Documentation Workflow
The Audit Documentation Workflow is the primary technology tool used by auditors to document and retain audit evidence to support our Audit Opinions. The role would:
Develop, enhance, and maintain content for the Audit Documentation Workflow (e.g., guidance, practice aids, and communications).
Provide business support to engagement teams with workflow-related questions.
Collect Feedback from the Audit Practice and work with the Global Firm to enhance the workflow and as well as Global guidance.
Escalate Canadian issues to the Global Firm for resolution.
Collaborate with the Canadian Audit Methodology team to ensure that the functionality is appropriate based on the methodology requirements in Canada.
Methodology
Strong knowledge of audit methodology and standards (e.g., ISA(CAS), PCAOB).
Develop guidance, practice aids, and training for engagement teams utilizing both Globally provided resources as well as developing Canadian specific content and resources.
Support engagement teams with the practical application of audit methodology and audit standards in the Audit documentation workflow and audit manual.
Support the development and delivery of methodology training.
What you bring to the role
Canadian CPA designation (or international equivalent).
5+ years of audit experience in a large professional services firm.
Experience as an Audit Manager and/or prior experience in professional practice, risk management, audit quality, methodology, or audit enablement roles.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to produce high-quality deliverables.
Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence collaborating with senior leaders in a deadline-driven environment.
Demonstrated strong proficiency in conducting internal control testing within audit engagements.
Proven ability to manage projects, coordinate across teams, and deliver results with minimal supervision.
High professional judgment and discretion when handling sensitive information.
Proficiency in English at a business level is required.
KPMG Ontario Region pay range information
The expected base salary range for this position is $91,000 to $136,500 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant’s base salary within this range is based on the individual’s location, skills, & competencies, and unique qualifications. In addition, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive Total Rewards program.
KPMG BC Region Pay Range Information
The expected base salary range for this position is $82,000 to $122,500 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant’s base salary within this range is based on the individual’s location, skills, & competencies, and unique qualifications. In addition, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive Total Rewards program.
