About the Company
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Chief Accountant will join a dynamic and fast-growing residential division. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a high-performing team within an expanding real estate environment.
Position Overview
The Chief Accountant will play a key role in the financial management of a portfolio of real estate assets. The position is responsible for ensuring the integrity of accounting processes, the accuracy of financial information, and adherence to reporting deadlines.
This includes overseeing monthly financial statements, monitoring operational and capital budgets, preparing financial forecasts, and coordinating the annual audit process.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Analysis
- Compile, analyze, and validate financial information provided by property managers and partners
- Ensure timely monthly receipt of financial data and verify its accuracy and consistency
- Oversee the preparation of monthly financial reports and analyze variances against approved budgets
- Actively contribute to financial forecasting and annual budgeting processes
Accounting Oversight & Compliance
- Review monthly and year-end reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and contribute to their continuous improvement
- Coordinate and prepare documentation for the annual audit
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards and financial best practices
Treasury & Operations
- Coordinate treasury activities related to managed assets
- Maintain rigorous oversight of cash flow and financial transactions
Stakeholder Relations & Communication
- Present financial results, analyses, and budgets to stakeholders
- Respond to internal and external client inquiries with professionalism
- Prepare and lead client meetings
Continuous Improvement & Projects
- Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives
- Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and financial performance

Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting
- CPA designation (mandatory)
- Strong analytical skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong client service orientation
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and handle ambiguity
- Bilingual (French and English, both spoken and written) – majority of interactions in English
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience with HOPEM and YARDI (asset)
