1. JOB OBJECTIVES

  • Coordinate and ensure proper maintenance of corporate equipment and infrastructure.
  • Plan, coordinate and execute different equipment preventive or corrective maintenance programs in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in collaboration with the various departments.
  • Ensure proper follow-up and quality of operations carried out with requesting departments.

2. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

Service provider

  • Provide the day-to-day support required for the smooth launch and running of production.
  • Coordinate the work of subcontractors and internal resources.
  • Participate in the planning of annual shutdowns and supervise activities in terms of maintenance and upkeep.
  • Coordinate installation and new equipment set-ups.
  • Ensure client satisfaction with corrective maintenance.
  • Lead the resolution of problems related to the operation and/or maintenance of equipment and infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP and corporate hygiene rules during interventions.

Documentation

  • Review and approve equipment maintenance registers and certifications.
  • Evaluate the maintenance impact of equipment deviations.
  • Initiate, track and close maintenance department change controls and related questions within the deadlines and in accordance with corporate procedures.
  • Initiate, follow up and close CAPAs and deviations in the maintenance department and related questions within the deadlines and in accordance with corporate procedures.
  • Draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure documentation compliance with GMP and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).

Staff supervision

  • Draft job descriptions for personnel under his/her supervision, in collaboration with the Human Resources (HR) department.
  • Recruit, train and coach staff under his/her supervision in collaboration with HR.
  • Communicate job expectations, departmental objectives and progress to employees, and discuss variations with them.
  • Evaluate skills and performance, suggest salary increases for staff under his/her supervision.

Other

  • Participate in departmental objectives in accordance with corporate strategic objectives.
  • Participate in department budget management.
  • Ensure minimum inventory for equipment maintenance purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety rules during the preparation and execution of work by internal and external resources.
  • Perform any other related tasks judged pertinent to the position.

3. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT AND APTITUDES

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, Diploma of collegial studies in mechanics or other relevant experience.
  • 5 to 10 years experience in maintenance in the manufacturing industry, preferably pharmaceutical.
  • Experience in staff supervision.
  • knowledge of pharmaceutical equipment and systems.
  • Knowledge of building construction and renovation.
  • Knowledge of welding and machinery technics.
  • Knowledge of Canadian and international GMP.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of computer tools, particularly the Microsoft suite.
  • Self-driven, organized and customer oriented.
  • Good critical judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Good team spirit.
