Journeyman PipefitterTitle:Journeyman PipefitterDepartment:ProductionReports To:Pipe SupervisorOverviewThe Journeyman Pipefitter will be responsible for the fabrication of piping systems and their components. Through the use of blueprints and project specifications, the Journeyman Pipefitter will construct piping systems that carry water, chemicals and fuel. Other responsibilities may include the testing of systems once they are in place. Preference will be given to Pipefitters with shop experience.Roles & ResponsibilitiesFabricate and tacks piping/equipment supports, brackets, guides.Fit up and prepare piping requiring welded joints.Liaises and collaborates with other trades.Repairs plumbing systems, hydronic heating systems.Performs filter changes on hydronic heating systems, control air, air-handling units.Provides occasional guidance to the primary function of others, including training.Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications to determine layout requirementsMeasure, cut, and threading to required shape using hand and power toolsWeld, tack and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping systemInstall supports, valves, piping.Test system for leaks using testing equipmentClean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush systemRemove and replace worn components and reactivate systemPerforms all duties in accordance with Silent-Aire Limited Partnership safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code.Performs other duties as required.Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesSteamfitter - Pipefitter Red Seal Certificate preferred5+ years experience as a Journeyman PipefitterFirst-aid certification is an assetAbility to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible mannerEffective verbal and listening communications skillsTime management skillsAbility to draw appropriate sketches to communicate detailsMust possess a valid Driver's licenseReceptive to change - can adapt to changing circumstances.Makes suggestions for improvement.Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current.Respect diversity - treat others with respect.Avoid unnecessary conflict.Working ConditionsNight ShiftJob requires ability to work with tools.Ability to lift and manipulate objects of up to 50 lbs for 50 feet is required.Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required (e.g. hard-hat, safety boots, etc.)Hazards associated with the industry.ContactsPipe SupervisorJohnson Controls’ Canadian subsidiaries are committed to providing reasonable accommodation to applicants, candidates and employees with disabilities, in accordance with applicable human rights legislation, and in Ontario, in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (“AODA”).
