What you will do

Perform daily checks, carry out preventative maintenance and corrective work orders, organize/schedule and assist other trades, and carry out other general building operational requirements as requested and or directed. Must have the necessary experience and sufficient knowledge to perform the duties of a Building Operator as required by codes, operate Facility Metasys BMS system, perform preventative maintenance work orders, alterations to mechanical systems, corrective work orders, maintain HVAC systems and/or other related building systems / operations as requested.

This is a fixed on-site position located at Environment Canada / NHRC, Saskatoon, SK.

How you will do it

  • Carry out general maintenance and inspection schedules. Equipment required to be serviced but not limited to; hot water boilers, chemical treatment systems and overall operation of HVAC. Other equipment checks include items such as supply exhaust fans, air handling units, coil banks, air filters, registers, grills, diffusers, mixing boxes, air valves, convectors, unit heaters, chillers, pumps, heat exchanger(s), gas to water humidifiers, chemical treatment systems, plumbing fixtures, plumbing systems, water distribution systems, domestic water heaters, air compressors, vacuum pumps, thermometers, pressure gauges, water softeners, air dryers, BMS computer and regular computers, coolers, cooling towers, fluid coolers, controls, fire protection system, R O water systems floor drains, roof drains, glass piping, and/or other plumbing systems and other related duties required.
  • May be required to assist with requisitioning new supplies and equipment.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures and adheres to company standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and required.

What we look for

Required

  • Minimum of two years' experience as a facility building operator
  • 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate required, 4th Class completion or intent to complete preferred
  • Requires knowledge of trade fundamentals sufficient to perform specialized service and repair work and familiarity to organize and schedule subcontractors as required. Preference to those familiar with Metasys BMS system. Formal training will be provided.
  • Requires the ability to work from drawings, diagrams, digital and verbal instructions including experience with internal work order programs for specific preventative maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Must be physically able to perform basic maintenance tasks to the highest caliber, which includes the ability to: climb ladders, work in confined spaces, lift heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs., etc.
  • Shift includes Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 4pm w/shared On Call rotation
  • Required to use a variety of hand and power tools or a forklift. Formal training provided as needed
  • Must be a team player committed to working in a quality environment.
  • Must be able to successfully pass background checks and obtain Reliability Security Clearance upon request.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $26.60 - $33.30 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
