Canada Games: Quebec 2027

The Canada Games are the largest multi-sport competition in the country. From February 27 to March 14, 2027, Quebec City will welcome more than 3,500 high-performance athletes and coaches competing in 22 sports disciplines. Held every two years, alternating between summer and winter, the Games celebrate perseverance and the sporting spirit of young Canadian athletes.

Your Role

As Director, Transportation and Logistics, you will oversee the transportation of participants and the logistics of material management, ensuring a smooth and safe experience for all. You will lead, guide, and support your team and volunteers in the planning, organization, and execution of all transportation and logistics operations.
Reporting to the Chief Sports and Athlete Services Officer , your talent and drive will enable you to:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain operational transportation plans (vehicle fleet, bus operations, transportation hub, arrivals and departures of approximately 2,250 people per week, parking management).
  • Supervise, mobilize, and support the transportation, warehousing, and logistics teams (staff and volunteers).
  • Manage the procurement process to select the best transportation providers.
  • Plan and coordinate the movement of materials and equipment between sites, ensuring traceability and on-time delivery.
  • Implement efficient systems for inventory management, material requests, and delivery fulfillment.
  • Deploy and operate an “Uber-style” dispatch system to enable dynamic resource allocation and route optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, internal policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless and coordinated operations.
  • Integrate sustainability practices (travel optimization, GHG reduction, efficient resource use) into all decisions.
  • Anticipate and mitigate risks (contingency planning, weather measures, equipment breakdowns, peak periods).
  • Develop and implement a post-Games decommissioning and material disposition plan;
  • Manage the budget, timelines, and priorities.
  • Produce progress and post-event reports.
What It Takes to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in event, project, operations, or transportation management (or related field).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or large-scale operations management.
  • Proven ability to build, lead, and motivate high-performing teams.
  • Skill in anticipating challenges and developing innovative solutions.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and coordination abilities for complex operations.
  • Professional proficiency in both French and English, spoken and written.
  • Criminal background check required.
