Job Title: Beam Saw / Horizontal Panel Saw Operator

Job Summary

The Beam Saw Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining a horizontal panel saw (beam saw) to accurately cut sheet materials according to production drawings, cut lists, and job specifications. The role ensures high-quality, precise cuts while maintaining efficiency, safety, and minimal material waste.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a beam saw / horizontal panel saw to cut sheet goods (MDF, plywood, particle board, laminate panels, etc.)
  • Read and interpret cut lists, shop drawings, and production orders
  • Measure, mark, and verify material before cutting
  • Load and unload panels safely and efficiently (manually or using lifting equipment)
  • Optimize material usage to reduce waste and maximize yield
  • Perform basic machine setup, adjustments, and blade changes when required
  • Inspect finished parts for accuracy, quality, and conformity to specifications
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area following company safety procedures
  • Report equipment issues or defects to maintenance or supervisors
  • Work closely with CNC operators, assembly teams, and production supervisors to meet deadlines

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience operating a beam saw or similar industrial panel saw (preferred)
  • Ability to read technical drawings and cut lists
  • Basic math and measurement skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good understanding of woodworking materials
  • Ability to lift heavy panels and work in a production environment
  • Knowledge of workplace safety procedures

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in cabinet making, millwork, or fixture manufacturing
  • Familiarity with optimization software or CNC production flow
  • Forklift or material handling certification

Work Environment

    • Manufacturing / woodworking shop
    • Fast-paced production environment
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and heavy materials (PPE required)
