Senior Underwriter (P&C / Speciality)

Our client is an independent and Canadian-owned Managing General Agent, providing innovative underwriting solutions to a select broker network by utilizing the latest technology.

Currently they are seeking a Senior Underwriter (P&C / Specialty) located in Ontario to become a part of their dynamic and knowledgeable team. They will help to build out the province's broker network.

This is a fully remote position for applicants anywhere in the province of Ontario.

DESCRIPTION

• Underwrite and analyze profitable new/renewal casualty business within very broad in-house delegated authorities
• Ability to grow and maintain business relationships with Ontario broker partners
• Attending networking events as required to bring in new business
• Determine client insurance needs and provide solutions
• Being accountable for ensuring that new and renewed solutions are implemented and maintained

REQUIREMENTS

• Demonstrated passion for business development i.e., networking, broker visits and brand promotion
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Thorough knowledge of underwriting guidelines, rating methodologies and business processes
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time and meet deadlines
• Professional and personable
• Self-motivated and driven to achieve company results
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team and can work remotely in a fast-paced environment

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• MGA experience highly advantageous
• Bachelor’s degree
• Professional designations CIP, FCIP, CRM a plus
• Minimum 7-10 years’ casualty underwriting experience
