Property Management Accountant

Overview:
A leading real estate development and management organization is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Property Management Accountant to oversee the financial operations of a diverse residential and commercial property portfolio. This role is key to ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and providing strategic insights to support decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage full accounting functions for a varied portfolio of residential and commercial properties
  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions
  • Reconcile property trust accounts and bank statements
  • Ensure compliance with all tax and regulatory obligations, including GST/PST
  • Partner with property managers to prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial strategies
  • Maintain accurate lease and tenant account records
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency
  • Mentor and support junior accounting staff

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA designation preferred
  • 5-7 years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in property management accounting
  • Proficiency in property management software (Sage 300 preferred) and advanced Excel skills
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting standards
  • Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills

Compensation:

  • Salary range: $70,000-$90,000, depending on experience and qualifications
  • 3 Weeks vacation
  • Extended health benefits
  • Discretionary bonus
