Overview:
A leading real estate development and management organization is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Property Management Accountant to oversee the financial operations of a diverse residential and commercial property portfolio. This role is key to ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and providing strategic insights to support decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage full accounting functions for a varied portfolio of residential and commercial properties
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions
- Reconcile property trust accounts and bank statements
- Ensure compliance with all tax and regulatory obligations, including GST/PST
- Partner with property managers to prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial strategies
- Maintain accurate lease and tenant account records
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency
- Mentor and support junior accounting staff
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA designation preferred
- 5-7 years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in property management accounting
- Proficiency in property management software (Sage 300 preferred) and advanced Excel skills
- Strong understanding of financial reporting standards
- Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills
Compensation:
- Salary range: $70,000-$90,000, depending on experience and qualifications
- 3 Weeks vacation
