They are an established leading mechanical contractor, serving the Greater Vancouver area and Western Canada. The company offers a full suite of services encompassing design-build, prefabrication, retrofits, and preventative maintenance, expertise in complex mechanical systems across sectors including healthcare, commercial, residential, and institutional.
About the Opportunity
As a Mechanical Project Manager, you will lead the mechanical aspects of the entire project lifecycle from start to finish. You will ensure that each project is delivered on time and budget. Your role will involve overseeing the procurement of materials, managing project schedules, ensuring compliance with building codes, and maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders. You will also manage the day-to-day operations, collaborating with various teams to keep projects running smoothly. About the Position
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with proven project management experience. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of mechanical construction projects, including budgeting, planning, procurement, field coordination, and project closeout.
Responsibilities
- Confirm scope against GC-issued contracts and estimates.
- Develop budgets and forecast reports; manage financials with Project Accountant/Controller.
- Negotiate supplier and subcontractor terms, complete scope and documentation.
- Create labour-loaded construction schedules and coordinate installation strategies with Field Ops.
- Review and manage shop drawings, submittals, and project documentation.
- Work with Field Supervision to manage subcontractors, QA/QC processes, and project execution.
- Handle Change Orders, RFI/SI reviews, and assess scope impacts.
- Complete monthly billings and attend construction reporting meetings.
- Apply for permits and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Maintain strong relationships with GCs, suppliers, and trades.
- Ensure all closeout documentation and tasks are completed prior to substantial completion.
Requirements
- 5+ years of project management experience in mechanical or construction projects.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
- Knowledge of building construction, materials, methods & codes.
- Proficiency in MS Project, Excel, and Outlook.
- Proven ability to deliver projects on time, on budget, and in full compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
