We are seeking a tech-savvy and detail-oriented Legal Assistant with experience supporting in-house counsel or complex legal teams to join the legal operations department of a high-profile Canadian organization in the transportation sector. This full-time, hybrid contract role is based near Toronto and offers the opportunity to support a collaborative legal team of nine lawyers on both traditional legal administrative tasks and legal technology initiatives.

About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Legal Operations, the Legal Assistant supports both day-to-day legal administration and strategic initiatives, working closely with lawyers, external counsel, finance, and business units. This role is ideal for a Legal Assistant with at least two years of experience in a corporate legal team or complex law firm, and an interest in legal tech and project-based work. You’ll work with tools like Legal Tracker, SharePoint, and Contract Express while contributing to billing, training, and internal communications. This hybrid role offers exposure to high-impact work in a fast-paced, transit-accessible environment and is a strong career move for those looking to expand into legal operations.

The Requirements

  • Legal Assistant diploma, or equivalent legal administrative experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience supporting a legal team in a corporate legal department, government, or large law firm setting
  • Experience with legal systems such as Legal Tracker is a must-have
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and familiarity with SharePoint, Adobe Sign, and contract automation tools is an asset
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Compensation

  • Hourly rate; depending on experience
  • Contract: 4 months (October 1 - December 31, 2025) with potential for extension or permanent hire
  • Hours: 8.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday (9:00 AM - 5:30 PM, 1-hour lunch)
  • Hybrid work model with 3 days onsite
