About The Position
The Junior Safety Coordinator will play a key part in supporting the company’s commitment to maintaining a high standard of safety across all operations. Will report to the Chief Safety Officer and assist with a variety of tasks related to safety program implementation and documentation. You’ll work closely with both office and field teams, helping to implement safety programs, conduct training, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Location: Burnaby, BC (with frequent travel to sites)

Compensation details:
Base Salary: $55,000 - $75,000 + Benefits + Company Vehicle for site visits.

Main duties:

  • Work alongside different teams to reinforce and maintain a safety-first attitude across the company.
  • Attend meetings to share safety updates, gather feedback from workers, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings, division discussions, and bi-weekly safety reviews.
  • Ensure all safety protocols align with current health and safety legislation.
  • Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for hazardous materials and ensure proper labeling.
  • Regularly review safety documentation to confirm compliance and take necessary corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate logs and statistics on safety-related activities.
  • Conduct fit testing for personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Provide suggestions to improve safety measures on job sites.
  • Assist with the Return-to-Work program for injured or ill employees.
  • Lead orientation sessions for young and new workers at the Tillicum Office.
  • Help identify training needs and coordinate with supervisors to address them.

Requirements:

  • A certificate, diploma, or degree in Occupational Health & Safety (or currently pursuing).
  • 1-2 years of experience in a construction or industrial environment (electrical experience is beneficial).
  • Must have a solid understanding of health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with safety management systems.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with team members across different departments.
  • Valid driver’s license (Class 5) and the flexibility to travel to job sites when needed.
