Estate Litigator

We are partnering with our client who is a start-up boutique litigation firm that provides services in the areas of estate litigation, real estate, and business disputes. Our client is a small firm based in Downtown, Toronto, and we are seeking lawyers who have a can-do attitude, able to roll up their sleeves, and take carriage of files independently. The ideal candidate also has litigation experience, although trial experience is not required.

ABOUT THE COMPANY AND THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client, a boutique litigation firm specializes in civil disputes, with a strong focus on real estate matters, estate litigation, and shareholder & partnership disputes. This is a start-up firm culture, and we are seeking candidates who would be comfortable rolling up their sleeves, assisting to establishing processes and procedures, and provide ongoing support to the managing partner.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Work on estate litigation matters pertaining to will challenges, estate accounting, estate and trustee removal, abuse of power and oppression, capacity issues, dependency relief claims, and more
• Draft motions, attend discovery, mediation, arbitration, etc
• Support and manage client relationships from beginning to end
• Have an openness to working on a variety of litigation files primarily in estate litigation, real estate, and business disputes

THE REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 2+ year of general civil or estate litigation experience
• Familiarity with billable targets and docketing practices
• Admitted to the Law Society of Ontario
• Ability to run carriage of files independently

BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION

• On target earnings: $80,000 - $120,000/year
• Annual bonus based on performance
• Billable target: 1500/ year
• In-person office role
