Job Description: Under the direction of a Program Manager and as part of an interdisciplinary team, the Social Worker provides a range of screening, triage, assessment, treatment and case coordination services to a primarily child and youth mental health and addiction population. This is a position that treats youth affected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The incumbent provides supervision to students in formal clinical practicums.

Education
- Recognized Bachelor Degree in Social Work is required.
Experience
- Requires a minimum of one year (postgraduate) recent recognized experience in a community mental health setting working with children, youth and families presenting with acute and chronic mental health problems.
Knowledge, Skill and Abilities
- Knowledge of normal child and adolescent development and psychopathology.
- Ability to identify, implement and evaluate areas of client difficulty across a wide range of clinical presentation and formulate evidence based intervention.
- Knowledge of the diversity of cultures, values and traditions and their impact on accessing mental health services.
- Knowledge of a variety of intervention strategies (individual and group) for children/youth with mental health and addiction problems in a community setting, including, but not limited to: assessment, triage treatment and case management.
- Ability to work in partnership within the community and possess a broad knowledge of community resources including treatment programs and support agencies.
- Ability to design, initiate and conduct in service training for other professionals.
- Ability to provide public education regarding children and youth and mental health concerns.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary mental health team.
- Ability to manage a high demand caseload and other work assignments.
- Knowledge and practical application of the Mental Health Services Act and Health Information Protection Act and other legislation that impacts the work of clinicians in a mental health setting.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal); Ability to document in a concise and timely manner.
- Ability to enter and retrieve data in computer database systems.
Other Information
- Must have current practicing registration with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW).
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet client need and operational needs.
- Requires a valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle for use as needed.
