Job Description: This position works as part of an interdisciplinary primary health care team. Under the direction of the Urban or Rural Primary Health Care Manager, the Nurse Practitioner will provide primary health care services to the community. The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for clients in the community both independently and collaboratively with a physician, depending upon the complexity of client needs. This includes: health promotion and protection; first line treatment and emergency services; provision of supportive counselling and instruction in management of medical conditions; disease and injury prevention; initiating and conducting community needs assessments and participating in evaluative projects; and collaboration with and referral to other health care professionals.

Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years experience as a Registered Nurse in primary care, public health or acute care. Minimum of one (1) year experience in community needs assessment, community development and health promotion.
Education
- Graduate from an approved School of Nursing. Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is desired. Certification in Primary Care Nurse Practitioner or equivalent program is required.
Licenses
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
Other Education and Training
- Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate (BCLS)

Knowledge of common medical conditions and treatments. Demonstrates ability to assess the community for primary health care needs. Demonstrates responsible decision making ability through the application of critical thinking. Demonstrates effective and professional verbal and non verbal communication techniques. Demonstrates empathy, trust and respect in the provision of care. Strong assessment and counseling skills. Ability to apply methods and principles of nursing process.
Other Information
- This is a community based position providing services in clinic and home settings. Travel required to various community sites within the Primary Health Care Networks (Regina). Home base for this position is: 1550 - 14th Avenue
