Job Description: THE CLINICAL COORDINATOR, UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE MANAGER, IS PRIMARILY ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE SYSTEM NAVIGATION AND COORDINATION OF PATIENT FLOW ON THE NURSING UNIT. THIS IS ACHIEVED BY THE COORDINATOR HAVING AN ONGOING AWARENESS AND INVOLVEMENT IN WORKFLOW OF THE UNIT. DUTIES INCLUDE BED MANAGEMENT, DISCHARGE PLANNING, ADVOCATING FOR THE PATIENT/FAMILY, IDENTIFYING SUPPLY AND EQUIPMENT NEEDS AND ASSISTING WITH STAFF SCHEDULING.
Human Resources Exemption: No
Experience- 5 years acute care nursing experience
- Supervisory experience is an asset
- 3 years Neurosciences experience in clinical area within the past 5 years
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
- Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
- Current CPR certification
- Nursing diploma is acceptable
- Advanced - Written Communication Skills
- Advanced - Verbal communication skills
- Intermediate Computer Skills
- Demonstrates the ability to be a system thinker
- Knowledge in role of specific clinical area within health system
- Demonstrates critical thinking, problem solving, conflict resolution skills
- Competent critical thinking/judgement/autonomous decision making capabilities
- Ability to be self motivated
- Knowledge in conflict resolution techniques
- Knowledge in policy and procedure development and quality assurance initiatives
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to function as a role model for staff and physicians
- Knowledge in leadership strategies
- Knowledge of current trends/issues/perspectives of nursing in the clinical area
- Ability to establish and maintain interpersonal/consultative relationships
