Job Description: Accountable to the Manager, the Infection Control Practitioner is responsible for providing infection prevention and control related services within the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) integrated service areas by supporting implementation and maintenance of an effective Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) program, providing training and education related to IPAC and infectious diseases, and by consulting on matters related to IPAC as an expert resource. The incumbent will participate in quality improvement or research activities as needed within the SHA. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

Education
- Degree in Nursing or relevant Health Sciences Degree acceptable to the Employer
Licenses
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
Knowledge and Abilities
- Knowledge of & able to utilize, principles of program development & teaching
- Knowledge to identify, investigate & control outbreaks of infectious diseases
- Possesses knowledge of and has job related experience in health care
- Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to communicate components of infection control to staff and patients
- Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates effective leadership and management skills
- Knowledge of microbiology & infectious disease
- Knowledge of epidemiological principles, statistics
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to be self directed and work relatively independently

- Current Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC) is an asset
