Job Description:
The Executive Director, Insights for Better Health is a key leader in Saskatchewan health care, partnering with system leaders to achieve our province’s healthcare goals. Reporting to the VP Quality, Safety & Information / CIO, the ED is responsible for contributing to the development and achievement of strategy by articulating gaps and needs.
The ED supports strategy through operational and business plans and the execution and monitoring of same. The ED demonstrates strong leadership to ensure that there is an innovative and positive working climate and a client-centric culture. The ED must work cross functionally within the portfolio and across the organization to support operations. The ED will work closely with other system partners including eHealth SK, Ministry of Health, HQC and Educational Institutes.
The specific accountabilities of this position include strategic advisement and operational decision making, for the following portfolio functions Advanced Analytics, Population Health, Research, Ethics, Program Planning & Support.
The successful candidate will demonstrate advanced knowledge, specialized expertise and executive-level skills in the following key areas:
Advanced Data Analytics & Modeling
- Expertise/ experience in data science, statistics, and predictive/prescriptive analytics.
- Able to move from descriptive analytics to advanced modeling to support healthcare decisions.
- Experienced in applying AI/machine learning to complex healthcare problems.
Patient-Centered & Outcome-Focused Approach
- Deep commitment to using data to improve patient outcomes and health equity.
- Experience working with PREMs and PROMs and integrating patient perspectives into analytics.
- Ensures that analytics efforts drive improvements in patient care, safety, and experience.
Research & Ethical Insight
- Familiarity with health research methods and collaboration with academic researchers.
- Ability to support evidence-based approaches and critical appraisal of research findings.
- Strong ethical judgment to ensure responsible data use, privacy, and transparent governance.
Data Integration & IT Systems
- Expertise integrating data from multiple disparate systems (e.g., EHRs, qualitative data, surveys).
- Understanding of data pipelines, data warehouses, and enterprise data platforms.
- Experience with data visualization and analytics tools to support health system decision-making.
Healthcare Domain Knowledge
- Experience in healthcare data environments.
- Clinical background is an asset but not essential; must understand clinical implications of data.
Communication & Knowledge Translation
- Exceptional ability to communicate analytic findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience producing reports, dashboards, and presentations that influence action.
- Strong writing and speaking skills to build credibility with clinical and executive leaders.
Leadership & Change Management
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams (analytics, research, ethics, etc.).
- Skilled in building collaboration and consensus across organizational silos.
- Ability to lead cultural and structural change in a large, complex health system.
- Responsible for developing and leading a strong, highly skilled and engaged team through effective organization and strong interpersonal skills that will meet the needs of the Health Authority.

Education:
- Graduate/Masters level degree or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Licensed and in good standing with professional association and/or regulatory body, if applicable
Experience:
- Extensive experience, at a strategic level, as a leader who has developed and led innovative planning and programs in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
- 10+ years in a leadership position with progressive advancement
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of legislation and applicable laws
- Advanced knowledge of the healthcare system in Saskatchewan and across Canada
- Has demonstrated ability to coach and develop others
