Job Description:

The Provincial Director is responsible for provincial coordination of public health services in the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA), and sustains a workplace environment that fosters respect, compassion, excellence, stewardship and collaboration.  There are six essential functions of Public Health: health promotion, health surveillance, health protection, population health assessment, disease and injury prevention, and emergency preparedness and response.  The Director is responsible for programs that will strengthen public health services in the SHA and include the following core functions: aligning priorities and strategies; standardizing services, policies, and clinical care; improving lines of communication; and optimizing the allocation of resources.

Education :

Masters degree in Public Health, Community Health Administration or Business Administration  
4 year undergraduate degree in health care and/or human service-related fields.

Experience:

 5 years of progressive management and supervisory experience in a health care setting at a senior leadership level is required
Experience in working in a complex regionalized, unionized environment is required. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-must have an understanding of and the skill to apply the philosophies of the SHA and an adaptive and proactive leadership style for identifying, analyzing and introducing creative responses to service delivery issues and opportunities
- Conflict, mediation and negotiation skills, along with the ability to maintain a focus on quality and safety for all services are essential. 
-Specialized working knowledge is also required in: population health promotion, community development, surveillance, primary prevention and screening programs, secondary prevention and in tertiary intervention programs
