GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
As a member of the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency Senior Leadership team, the Director, Medical Affairs & Physician Operations is accountable for providing collaborative leadership and expertise in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies, procedures, programs and initiatives that support and advance the Agency’s mission, values, policies and strategic direction
The Director MAPO reports to the Vice President - Medical Services for all clinical related functions with an indirect reporting line to the Vice President - Corporate Services for administrative and financial functions. Working with leaders and key stakeholder, this position advances the strategic directions of the organization through physician leadership, physician engagement, physician resource planning, medical administration and the integration of medical services among and within teams. The position also provides direction and leadership to Agency programs that fall within the Medical Services division.
The position partners with Vice Presidents, Directors and Managers to embed integrated clinical teams and supports these individuals and teams through advice, leadership, facilitation and mediation with respect to the physician components.
The position oversees and directs medical human resource and administrative matters including but not restricted to physician resource planning, recruitment, retention, credentialing and privileging, contract negotiations and investigation/discipline.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in administration (health administration, public administration or business administration) plus at least 5 years increasingly responsible experience in a complex matrix work environment or a combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of medical governance and administration models, recruitment and retention best practices and human resource planning and forecasting.
- Knowledge of strategies to engage and empower physicians, develop their leadership potential and integrate their services recognizing the differing approaches between physicians and other staff.
- Knowledge of business principles and processes including budgeting, forecasting, data collection and analysis, modelling, business case development, policy and program development and program evaluation.
