Description
In collaboration with all programs and services, and members of the Patient Experience Program, the Quality of Care Consultant is accountable for: providing clinical risk management consultation in a timely, efficient manner to all programs and services; coordinating and documenting quality related occurrences and events, facilitating occurrence reviews and analyses ; supporting the legal claim process; and facilitating education and awareness related to improving quality of care at all levels of the organization.
1. University degree in relevant discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
2. Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience.
3. Relevant education/experience in risk management & patient safety.
4. Demonstrated expertise in root cause analysis and occurrence review.
5. Minimum 5 years experience in a Hospital setting with a thorough understanding of Hospital service delivery.
6. Experience in dealing with complex risk management issues.
7. Demonstrated evidence of experience in conflict resolution, crisis management and experience with Alternate Dispute Resolution.
8. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and EPIC.
9. Demonstrated evidence of commitment to continuous learning through pursuit of educational endeavours.
10. Demonstrated ability to maintain impartiality, objectivity, diplomacy and other confidentiality, including an understanding and appreciation for cultural, religious and individual beliefs.
11. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with Senior Management, Medical Leadership, Physicians, Health Professionals and multidisciplinary teams.
12. Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal and facilitation skills that promote co-operation, teamwork and enhance the ability of management staff to deal with difficult patient communication and adverse events.
13. Demonstrated project management skills and success in the application of change management strategies.
14. Experience in facilitating quality improvement, and the application of quality improvement tools.
15. Demonstrated ability to effectively work in teams and ability to work independently.
16 Some knowledge of the patient experience literature.
17. Demonstrated skills in data collection design and analysis.
18. Demonstrated expertise and ability to coach and mentor teams and individuals.
19. Demonstrated presentation and report writing skills.
