Reporting to the Director of Medical Physics, the Medical Physicist supplies scientific expertise to the Centre through the application of physics to medicine. This position is responsible for specification, acceptance testing, commissioning and calibration of equipment used in the Radiotherapy Department and the implementation of QA Programs. In addition, the Medical Physicist plans and implements new treatment techniques and/or technologies and advises Radiation Oncologists and Dosimetrists as required. Additional responsibilities include conducting ongoing research and providing education for residents, students and visitors.


Qualifications

PhD in Medical Physics or a related subject from a recognized university is required
• Demonstrated scientific problem solving ability
• Successful completion of a CAMPEP accredited residency in radiation oncology physics or equivalent
• Certified or eligible for certification in radiation oncology physics by the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload
