Description
Under the direction of the Environmental Management Lead, the Environmental Stewardship Coordinator is accountable for coordinating and supporting programs, projects, and initiatives that advance Hamilton Health Sciences’ Environmental Performance Plan. The role is responsible for the implementation and facilitation of environmental stewardship initiatives, including education and engagement programs, non-capital project development, performance measurement, regulatory monitoring, and communication. This work is achieved through the development and delivery of training and engagement activities, creation and coordination of project plans, application of best practices, and effective collection, analysis, and reporting of environmental performance data to support continuous improvement and compliance.
The Environmental Stewardship Coordinator works collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external partners to support stewardship initiatives across departments and programs. The role supports the planning, execution, and evaluation of projects aligned with corporate environmental goals, including contributing to business cases, budgets, timelines, and success measures. In addition, the position coordinates and oversees student interns, including recruitment, onboarding, supervision, and mentorship. The Coordinator supports effective communication across the organization, remains current with environmental regulations and healthcare sustainability standards, and ensures initiatives and related activities are delivered efficiently, consistently, and in alignment with organizational priorities.
Through education, performance measurement, project support, and mentorship, the Environmental Stewardship Coordinator plays a vital role in embedding environmental stewardship into daily operations and organizational culture at Hamilton Health Sciences.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in environmental science, stewardship, engineering, or a related field is required., CAPM or PMP is an asset
Previous working experience in environmental management, stewardship, climate change, corporate stewardship (e.g. ESG), or a related field is required.
Previous experience creating, implementing and monitoring projects in a multi-site large organization. Experience within healthcare preferred.
Proficiency in using software for data analysis, reporting, and project management (e.g. Microsoft Suite, Canva or other tools).
Strong communication, writing, presentation, interpersonal and relationship building skills.
Strong report writing skills.
Knowledge of GRI, LEED, ISO Standards, BCorp or other standards considered an asset.
Experience working with and maintaining compliance with relevant environmental laws and regulations.
Experience creating and delivering educational materials across multiple platforms (e.g. virtual, in-person, e-learning modules, etc)
Strong analytical skills and experience managing data for the purpose of generating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics for corporate reporting.
Ability to identify problems, analyze data, and develop solutions.
