Clinical Psychologist-CYMH Outpatient Service

Within the CYMH-AS Outpatient Team, our Clinical Psychologists provide direct clinical service involving consultation, assessment and treatment using individual, family and group modalities. Our Psychologists are also active in research and program development activities including leadership in externally funded quality improvement research and implementing quality and outcome indicators within our services. The Psychologist also provides education to and supervision of staff and other learners within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University, and specialized mental health teams, and participates in the development of an ongoing staff in-service program.


Qualifications
  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Psychology  or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD)

  • Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario

  • Expertise in a cognitive behavioural therapy

  • Extensive knowledge and current experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of complex anxiety and mood disorders in children and adolescents

  • Advanced skills in the development and documentation of specific interventions, in conducting clinical trials and in evaluating service outcomes for children and adolescents with mixed emotional and behavioural problems

  • Demonstrated strength in consultation, teaching, teamwork and in the supervision of advanced learners

  • Demonstrated expertise in several treatment modalities (eg. family systems therapy, group therapy, individual therapy using several theoretical models)

  • Strength in conducting and supervising psychological testing

  • Eligible for part-time appointment with the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University

  •  Ability to successfully compete for grant monies to fund clinical trials

  •  Must be able to obtain a valid Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
