Position Summary
Reporting to the Methods and Programming Manager, the incumbent is responsible for developing and preparing manufacturing work instructions in accordance with customer requirements, technical specifications, and company standards. The objective is to optimize production efficiency, improve manufacturing methods, and reduce production costs.
The incumbent also participates in evaluating materials and hardware, estimating production steps and cycle times for both in-house manufacturing and subcontracted work.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret technical information from engineering drawings, specifications, and repair/maintenance (MRO) documentation.
- Prepare and update manufacturing work instructions for all production departments, including welding, thermal spray, chemical processing, assembly, machining, inspection, painting, and surface preparation.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by creating assembly manuals and supporting corrective action activities.
- Provide technical support to production teams across all departments.
- Validate technical requirements using CATIA V5 3D models and create visual work aids and sketches to support production.
- Evaluate repair requirements and develop repair procedures based on approved repair documentation.
- Analyze engineering change requests and conduct contract reviews and risk assessments.
Education
- College diploma (DEC) in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Aircraft Manufacturing Technology; or
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering; or
- Any other relevant technical training combined with equivalent work experience will be considered.
Technical Qualifications
- Junior Engineer with approximately three (3) years of experience is considered an asset.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience using CATIA V5.
- Strong ability to monitor projects and follow up on deliverables.
- Excellent command of French (spoken and written) and functional English (reading and writing), required to read and understand technical documentation from suppliers located outside Quebec.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the aerospace industry or precision manufacturing in a similar position.
