Purpose of the position

The machinist’s main mission is to manufacture tensile test specimens intended to support internal production operations. He/she ensures precision machining using both conventional equipment (manual lathes and milling machines) and CNC machines, according to provided technical specifications.

This role is essential to ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of tested materials, while supporting production timelines and requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications
  • Plan machining sequences and select appropriate tools and parameters
  • Set up, operate, and monitor conventional and CNC machine tools (turning and milling)
  • Machine parts with precision according to required tolerances
  • Make necessary adjustments during production to correct deviations
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with applicable standards
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams
  • Perform any other related duties

Job requirementsEducation

  • Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) in machining, industrial mechanics, or a related field

Technical skills

  • Strong machining expertise
  • Ability to read technical drawings and understand tolerances
  • Good knowledge of common materials (steel, aluminum, stainless steel, etc.)
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments
  • Ability to follow technical instructions and quality control procedures
  • Knowledge of machining software or CNC machine interfaces

Personal skills

  • Rigor, precision, and strong attention to detail
  • Autonomy and initiative
  • Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
  • Analytical thinking and mechanical/technical problem-solving skills
