Position Summary
Reporting to the Quality Supervisor, the Chemical Laboratory Technician is responsible for providing technical analysis for quality control of submitted samples. The incumbent works with equipment commonly used in quality control laboratories within chemical manufacturing environments, including titration systems, conductivity meters, pH measurement instruments, and other chemistry-related testing equipment. Various chemical products are also handled. Maintaining sample traceability and accurate reporting of results is essential.
Responsibilities
- Perform and conduct technical testing and analyses using appropriate methods and techniques as specified by accredited organizations and customer requirements;
- Prepare samples for testing;
- Evaluate test results and prepare reports;
- Assign registration numbers to ensure traceability of samples and reports;
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including compliance with customer quality program certification requirements;
- Compile data and interpret test results;
- Provide technical support to various departments within the company;
- Review customer specifications and internal procedures;
- Report any defects or missed work to the supervisor;
- Perform any other related duties as assigned.
Required Education
- College diploma (DEC) in Chemical Technology or a related field;
- Any other relevant education and/or experience may be considered.
Technical Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience;
- Experience in the aerospace industry (asset);
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.);
- Ability to understand technical requirements and specifications for specific testing procedures, including blueprint reading.
