Our client based in the procurement industry in Montréal is presently searching for a purchasing agent for permanent placement. 
 
Job Summary : 
Duties include sourcing and purchasing materials, negotiating with suppliers, managing purchase orders, and ensuring timely delivery of goods.  You must have some procurement or supply chain experience and a strong technical background, with good organizational, teamwork, and analytical skills. 


This position requires strong technical skills, necessary to adapt to rapidly changing technologies, and to work productively with minimal supervision. We are looking for a team player and self-starter with the ability to 
 

You will report to the Purchasing Manager, and you’ll mainly accomplish these tasks:  
Forecasting component: 
  • Develop parts forecasts in line with sales and financial plans; 
  • Provide detailed SKU to plant projections necessary to ensure parts are purchased to meet purchasing requirements; 
  • Ability to manage inventory across multiple warehouses;  
  • Achieve desired fulfillment rate. 
 
Inventory Management: 
  • Complete and analyze weekly availability reports and make recommendations; 
  • Communicate regularly with management about inventory availability; 
  • Monitor sales and inventory levels in all warehouses, reporting deviations to planned forecast; 
  • Expedite any inventory shortages to support the needs of the CTS department, or purchase from other SBUs; 
  • Set up new materials in SAP using the established business rules
  • Maintain all material master data, purchasing info records and source lists to ensure correct reporting within SAP
  • Release part orders daily to the warehouse;
  • Monitor open delivery notes that are more than 48 hours 

Purchasing: 
  • Responsible for all parts for the entire organization; 
  • Provide regular purchase orders to factories and vendors to ensure products are produced on time and delivered to customers or warehouse according to planned dates; 
  • Track shipped orders and report estimated arrival dates to necessary parties; 
  • Analyze and revise future shipment plans as needed: includes expediting, delaying, or cancelling orders; 
  • Assist with updating purchasing and standard costs when needed; 
  • Keep cost at a minimum. 
 
Reporting: 
  • Produce and submit parts quota by the 3rd of every month;
  • Produce and submit part order fulfillment rate by the 8th of every month;
  • Track slow moving parts and make suggestions to help reduce it, i.e. selling to other SBUs, selling to part websites, etc. 
  • Responsible for updating existing reports and developing new ones. 
 
For your application to be considered, the required qualifications are as follows: 
  • DEC in a relevant field (such as Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Logistics) or equivalent combination of education and experience; 
  • 1-3 years' experience as Purchasing, Procurement or Supply chain Agent or similar role; 
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office; 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; 
  • Ability to work in an office environment; 
  • Energetic, dynamic, methodical, and able to adapt; 
  • Attention to detail; ability to remain focused and organized; 
  • Proficiency in both French and English is required from time to time, as the individual will collaborate with colleagues and clients outside of Quebec, both in writing and verbally. 
 
Assets:  
  • Experience with an ERP system is an asset (ideally SAP).
