About the Position

The Health Informatics – Clinical Ancillary Services portfolio is seeking a permanent full-time Lead, Health Informatics to support a technically complex and mission-critical portfolio across Surgical, Anesthesia, and Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) services within Fraser Health.

This is a role for someone who thrives at bridging complex clinical operations with enterprise technology. You’ll own the technical backbone of high-acuity clinical applications - from servers and databases to integrations, network dependencies, and security - while partnering closely with clinical, vendors, and infrastructure teams to keep systems stable, performant, and ready for growth.

Success in this role also depends on the ability to communicate clearly and confidently, translating complex technical topics into practical, meaningful information that supports clinical and business decision-making.

You will support and evolve enterprise-level clinical systems used across 12 acute care hospitals, where uptime, data integrity, and system performance directly impact patient care. Experience supporting surgical systems and/or instrument tracking solutions used within MDR environments is considered a strong asset, given the operational criticality and integration complexity of these platforms. Beyond day-to-day operational support, you’ll also lead and influence medium-to-large scale strategic initiatives, optimization, and integrations across regional and provincial platforms.

In this role, you will:

• Lead and support a technically demanding portfolio of clinical applications, with accountability across application, database, operating system, network, and infrastructure layers
• Act as a senior technical escalation point, resolving complex production issues involving servers, SQL databases, integrations, certificates, firewall rules, and vendor-hosted components
• Partner with Infrastructure, Network, Security, Integration, and Vendor teams to ensure systems are secure, resilient, and aligned with enterprise standards
• Facilitate discussions between clinical leaders, frontline users, vendors, and technical teams - translating clinical needs into actionable technical solutions
• Lead medium to large-scale projects, including new implementations, upgrades, integrations, and optimization initiatives
• Provide backend oversight for server maintenance, capacity planning, performance tuning, and system sustainment
• Support and improve system integration across internal and external platforms, ensuring data flows are reliable, secure, and well-governed
• Contribute to business process improvement and workflow integration, balancing clinical efficiency with technical best practices
• Mentor team members and provide senior-level guidance in troubleshooting, analysis, and technical decision-making

The Lead, Health Informatics is responsible for leading and managing assigned projects, providing leadership to team members and applying appropriate change management strategies as part of a project.  Provides advice, guidance, and direction to an assigned portfolio in the areas of knowledge management, and decision support; in clinical and corporate business areas which includes the development and implementation of application architecture. Provides expertise on enterprise-wide projects, serves as back up to the Portfolio Manager in the area of team leadership.
ResponsibilitiesQualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Health Information Science or Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Five (5) years of recent experience with business and systems analysis including experience as a project manager. Experience with health and corporate information systems.
