I'm looking for a Controller:
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Controller is responsible for the organization’s accounting and financial activities. They are expected to coordinate and manage the accounting cycle, as well as analyze, evaluate, and prepare financial statements. They also oversee transactional processes and provide financial support to various departments.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and prepare monthly and annual financial statements
- Manage and monitor membership and affiliated association dues
- Process dues on a monthly basis
- Produce all financial reporting and explain variances and discrepancies
- Participate in the development of the annual budget
- Manage treasury operations, investments, and supplier payments
- Prepare complex journal entries
- Coordinate and participate in the year-end audit file preparation and maintain strong collaboration with external auditors
- Prepare tax-related information for annual filings
- Provide accounting support (journal entries, spreadsheet creation, data management, month-end close, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with administrative policies and internal financial controls
- Supervise the accounting technician role within the team
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or equivalent training
- CPA: member of the Chartered Professional Accountants Order
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in a similar role
- Knowledge of best practices in accounting
- Fluency in French and good command of English (written and spoken)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
- Knowledge of accounting software such as Microsoft Dynamics Business Central and Avantage (an asset)
- Occasional availability outside regular business hours for certain meetings
