Experienced economics leader needed

Provide strategic direction and senior leadership for FCC’s economic research and forecasting function.

In this role, you’ll serve as a key thought leader, representing the organization externally as the company’s primary spokesperson on matters spanning the economy, key trends in agriculture and agri-food industries, and economic insights to engage with customers, industry groups, government and the media.

Leveraging your expertise in economics, you will deliver strategic analysis of macroeconomic trends, financial markets, and the agriculture and agri-food sector's operating environment. These insights will support executive decision-making, risk management, and the development of investment strategies.

What you’ll do

  • Develop and communicate the organization’s economic outlook, including interest rate forecasts, inflation trends, and dynamics in the agriculture and agri-food markets.
  • Advise the executive team on economic risks and opportunities affecting lending, investment, and portfolio strategies.
  • Align economic insights with corporate strategy, capital planning, and regulatory positioning.
  • Lead macroeconomic and financial market research, including scenario modeling and stress testing.
  • Monitor central bank policy, fiscal developments, and global economic indicators.
  • Lead the production of regular economic reports and briefings for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization in media, industry forums, and regulatory consultations.
  • Build relationships with government agencies, financial institutions and industry stakeholders.
  • Provide economic commentary through publications and public speaking.
  • Partner with Risk, Finance, and Strategy teams to integrate economic forecasts into business planning and decisions.
  • Support Operations and Marketing in building relationships with customers and industry by providing data-driven economic analysis and insights.
  • Guide cross-functional teams on the implications of economic shifts for lending and investment decisions.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven leader who is passionate about helping others succeed
  • Strategic thinking and financial acumen, with advanced economic forecasting capabilities
  • Collaborative relationship-builder who works across levels and teams, and develops partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Exceptional communicator able to provide actionable insights in a way that’s easy to understand

What you’ll need

  • A PHD or master’s degree in economics, finance or a related field and at least 10 years of progressive leadership experience in applied economics or policy analysis (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Deep understanding of the agriculture environment and financial services ecosystem
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and shape policy
  • Advanced proficiency in both official languages (English and French)
