Job Description

Behavioural Supports Ontario (BSO) PSW

This position is for our Extendicare Maple View Home, located in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario

Available opportunities include: Permanent Full Time

Work:

  • Day, evening and night shifts and weekends
  • Frequent contact with residents exhibiting responsive behaviours.
  • Implements best practice in dementia, delirium and mental health conditions based on scope of practice

What you bring:

  • Experience in long-term care required
  • Knowledge and experience in care planning systems and documentation required
  • Capable and physically able to perform duties as assigned
  • Ability to communicate positively with other staff, residents and families
  • Demonstrates empathy, concern and interest in providing quality care and service to residents
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Vulnerable Sector Screening is required
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skill working with individuals with various types of dementia, delirium, mental health, other neurological conditions, and those who experience an acute behavioural change
  • Training in Gentle Persuasive Approach, U-First! and DementiAbility is preferred
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm, flexibility and ability to cope with change
  • Demonstrates effectiveness as a team member through collaboration, respect and effective communication skills in interacting with residents, families and other members of the inter-professional care teams, including community and primary care team members
