Our client, a Canadian warehousing company, is looking for an Assistant Manager for their Distribution Center located in Montreal.
The incumbent will plan and organize the daily operations of the assembly department on the day shift, optimize resources and process execution, and maintain a safe and positive work environment while respecting the company's values and ethics.
Schedule Monday to Friday 7:00 pm to 3:30 pm onsite

Responsibilities:
Production follow-up
- Analyze assembly operations on his/her shift, define priorities or reallocate the team according to operational needs;
- Evaluate and ensure the operational productivity of his/her team and participate in performance management;
- Analyze departmental reports and take action.
Production management
- Ensure standardization of procedures and work methods between the various members of its shift as well as with other shifts;
- Participate in defining and communicating overall performance objectives to assembly management (supervisors and team leaders):
- Carry out active supervisory rounds;
- Communicate and educate supervisors and other managers on OHS standards and procedures to be followed in the event of a workplace accident;
- Ensure that the team works in a safe environment;
- Ensure optimal use of material resources;
- Ensure the accuracy and assembly quality of pallets produced.
Continuous improvement
- Participate in the analysis and make recommendations concerning the work environment and equipment used by the team;
- Be a driving force in identifying opportunities for improvement within the department;
- Act as a catalyst for change, urgently communicating and supporting the various safety stakeholders and complying with OHS standards.
Personnel management
- Check and validate timesheets in Kronos software;
- Manage the workforce of the teams assigned to him/her (recruitment, leave, rest, on-call duty, job interviews and appraisals).
- Participate in the definition of the development plan in order to promote the continuous evolution of his/her team's skills, coach supervisors and apply corrective measures as needed.
- Replace the Assembly Manager when necessary
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a similar position
- Bachelor's degree in administration, supply chain or operations management, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Good communication skills;
- Proven experience in implementing and managing operational growth
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach and develop a team
- Good knowledge of the Office suite, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook
- Analytical, organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to work in a dynamic, high-volume environment
