As a Research Specialist at the Future of Canada Centre (FCC), you will help develop and activate cross-sectoral thought leadership for Deloitte Canada that focuses on building a thriving future for our country. This is a great opportunity for candidates who are highly motivated, analytical, and logical thinkers with a passion for and experience with qualitative and/or quantitative research.
In this role, you will:
- Contribute to all stages of the development of high-profile thought leadership pieces, from ideation through launch and activation.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative research using a variety of methodologies (e.g., executive interviews, surveys, workshops, focus groups) and data sources (both public and proprietary).
- Manage discrete pieces of work with support from senior team members and the Research Lead, and provide ongoing status reports to same.
- Assist in monitoring industry and policy developments, both in Canada and globally.
- Support the development of internal and external materials related to research insights (e.g., presentations, briefing notes, articles), and support the review of Marketing collateral related to research insights and thought leadership pieces.
- Present FCC’s insights to leadership, and support leadership in engaging with clients and stakeholders on research insights.
- Support FCC research operations and related convenings, including by drafting communications templates, organizing meetings and events, and developing facilitation materials (e.g., discussion prompts, one-pagers, run-of-show guides).
- Participate in teambuilding, team learning, and strategic planning initiatives, and assist in organizing such initiatives as required.

The FCC has two intertwined focuses in service of our firm, our clients, and the country. We develop and mobilize original research that provides insights for businesses, governments, organizations, and Canadians on a broad spectrum of topics; and we coordinate public policy activities across the firm and develop and advance policy positions on priority issues for our firm.
We are seeking an experienced researcher at the Specialist level to join our team on a permanent basis, starting in July or August 2025.
You are someone who has/is:
- 3-5 years of work experience including a focus on research in professional services, government, think tanks, or a related sector.
- Proven superior research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including quantitative skills.
- Highly organized and detail-focused, able to synthesize information clearly and concisely.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Skilled at building and maintaining strong professional relationships with diverse team members, leaders, and stakeholders.
- Comfortable working in an ambiguous environment with competing deadlines and rapidly evolving needs and conditions.
- Strong technical proficiency in MS Office applications, specifically PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- A strong academic background and a demonstrated interest in significant issues affecting the future of Canada.
- A lifelong learner with a growth mindset.
- Due to the nature of the role having interactions with National teams and clients, English is required for the role
Assets include:
- A master’s degree, preferably in politics, international relations, business, public policy, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in public policy.
- Knowledge of Indigenous peoples, economies, and governance systems, and experience with or interest in Indigenous research methodologies, ethics, and protocols.
- Work experience with a think tank.
The salary range for this position is $47,000 - $78,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
