We are looking for sharp minds to join our growing team, offering you the opportunity to provide strategic value to our clients.

What will your typical day look like?

The successful candidate will support client engagements through rigorous research, clear analysis, and high‑quality written and visual outputs. You will work closely with senior practitioners to deliver reports, proposals, and advisory projects across various areas: economic development, destination development and tourism, trade and investment, and economic policy.

Main responsibilities include the following:

  • Conduct and contribute to primary and secondary research in a wide range of economic, industry, and policy topics synthesizing findings that add value for other team members and the client.
  • Prepare clear, compelling written content for reports, presentations, and proposals, including the ability to adapt tone, format and style to suit different audiences and project needs.
  • Edit and integrate inputs from multiple sources (data sources, sub-consultants, team members, artificial intelligence tools) into a consistent polished format and harmonized written ‘voice’.
  • Collect, clean, analyze, and interpret data relating to employment, industries, trade, population demographics, real estate, and other sources of information.
  • Find, process and analyze trends in industry sectors and their supply chains and assess implications and impacts on local, regional and national economic development.
  • Translate quantitative analysis into visual outputs (charts, tables, graphics) and explain findings clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Support and, at times, lead qualitative research activities such as focus groups and workshops, interviews with community and business leaders, and presentations.
  • Engage directly and communicate comfortably with clients, sub-consultants, and project rightsholders at all levels, virtually and in-person.
  • Distill complex analysis into practical “so what” discoveries, insights, implications, and recommendations that go beyond the obvious.
  • Contribute to project management activities, including tracking progress, organizing team members, and anticipating client needs to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
About the team

Our Economics team provides a range of economic advisory services to our clients. In an uncertain world, Economic Analysis can help companies and local, regional, provincial and federal governments make better choices. Corporately, Deloitte places a high degree of importance on three principles that are increasingly becoming an element of our work: Indigenous reconciliation, diversity/equity/inclusion and climate change.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

You are someone with:

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in research, analysis, strategy, and advisory work.
  • Excellent understanding of how governments operate at the local, regional and other levels, particularly in economic development, destination development and tourism, workforce development, investment attraction and trade, strategic planning, business retention and expansion, etc.
  • Outstanding analytical, writing and communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and clients.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, project-based environment under tight and shifting timelines.
  • An undergraduate degree in a field related to one or more of our core service areas.
  • Strong time management, with the ability to balance multiple tasks and project commitments efficiently.
  • Experience accessing and analyzing labour market, demographic, housing, and industry.
  • Curiosity, drive, passion, and genuine interest in making the world a better place, one community and client at a time.
  • Experience with data visualization, graphic design, and/or French language proficiency are all considered valuable assets.
  • Location in Alberta or British Columbia preferred.

A cover letter that includes your motivations in applying and your salary expectations, is a mandatory part of your application. It will display your writing abilities and tell us why you are passionate about helping our clients thrive in an ever-changing world. Please feel free to submit examples of written work or communications that you have completed which support your submission (please submit your cover letter and any supporting documents with your resume in one PDF).
