SUMARRY OF THE POSITION
The Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay (CBHSSJB) is looking for a candidate to fill a pilot project for an interim management position of evening, night, weekend overview of the hospital needs.
Under the authority of the Assistant Director, Chisasibi Regional Hospital, the incumbent will plan, organize, coordinate, and control Human Resources and the continuity of hospital services.
During night and weekend shifts, the incumbent will act as the central manager of the facility, ensuring overall coordination of operations and actively contributing to real-time hospital flow. In this context, the incumbent will play a key role in decision-making, prioritization, and management of critical situations.
The incumbent will also ensure optimal continuity of operations by actively preparing the conditions for the next shift, notably by anticipating capacity issues, care pathways, and resource availability. The incumbent will ensure optimal and fair use of human resources, taking into account the specific needs of clients and clinical priorities.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
• Ensures that services are provided within the mission, philosophy, goals and prescribed programs of the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay and Miyupimaatisiiun, according to an interdisciplinary and community-based approach.
• Participates in the implementation of mechanisms to enable the Regional Hospital to respond to any logistics emergency during the night, day, evening, weekend and statutory holidays.
• Contributes to the implementation, supervision and control of the policies, norms and standards of the professional practice of the various sectors of the Regional Hospital.
• Contributes to ensuring the daily planning, leadership, accountability, organization, coordination, implementation and control of a high quality of life, services and programs within the Regional Hospital.
• Participates in the operational planning, organization and implementation of the Regional Hospital programming and management support activities.
• Collaborates in the implementation of coordination and continuity mechanisms for the 24 hour per day year-round Regional Hospital operations.
• Contributes to the implementation and supervision of the Quality Assurance Program, the norms and standards of quality and interventions, and the satisfaction of the clientele served by the Regional Hospital.
• Ensures the efficient people management of the service in part by being directly responsible and accountable for the supervision and management of employees and overall management of the service, including:
• Ensuring employees understand their roles and responsibilities, are mobilized towards the achievement of the service’s objectives and priorities;
• Identifying training needs, recommending solutions, and supporting training and development for all the members of the service.
• Ensures the financial management of the service in part by:
• Planning budget considering strategic orientations of the department and organization, keeping room for future unforeseen situations that may occur.
• Ensures compliance and respect of the laws, regulations, ethics, norms policies and procedures for the Direction.
• Supports day shift team when the Coordinator is absent at the request of the Assistant Director.
• Carries out any other functions at the request of the immediate supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS
Education and experience:
• Bachelor's degree in administration or social sciences or another appropriate academic discipline.
• Three (3) years of appropriate administrative experience in similar responsibilities;
Or
• Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in Administration or relevant related field;
• Five (5) years experiences in service management or supervision in a social service or re-adaptation environment or in a multidisciplinary team setting.
Knowledge and Abilities:
• Knowledge of and experience with management information systems and data bases;
• Knowledge of the MSSS network, laws and regulations for an Agency/Regional Board and establishment, is an asset;
• Knowledge of Cree culture and language, and social/health issues in Eeyou Istchee is an asset;
• Ability in the identification and analysis of administrative system needs;
• Good interpersonal, leadership and respectful teamwork skills;
• Excellent communication skills, both written and presentation;
• Methodical, organized and able to multi-task and work under pressure;
• Excellent critical thinking, organizational and decision-making skills.
LANGUAGE
• Fluent in English;
• Fluency in Cree or French is an asset.
OTHER
• Includes on-call periods.
• Rotation- Evening-nights-weekends
