SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
A person who assumes responsibility for a range of nursing services based on the bio-psycho-social needs of users or groups of people entrusted to his/her care. He/she assesses the user's state of health, determines and ensures implementation of the therapeutic nursing plan and the nursing care and treatment plan. She initiates and provides nursing and medical care and treatment to maintain or restore health and prevent illness. In particular, she may prescribe laboratory analyses, treatments, products, drugs and dressings in the fields of wound care and public health, in accordance with current regulations.
She plans, provides and evaluates teaching for users, their families and groups of people. It participates in research aimed at health promotion and disease prevention.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
• Participates in the application of laws, regulations and working conditions relating to occupational injuries, preventive leaves, salary insurance plans and health and safety at work;
• Plays an advisory role in the management of health records and acts as representative for: employees, managers, unions, doctors, etc;
• Collaborates in the investigation and analysis of accidents and in the control of the related costs of the different income replacement indemnities;
• Participates actively in the promotion of attendance at work and prevention activities;
• Provides statistics on sick leave, occupational accidents and preventive leaves;
• Applies the rules of the collective agreements and the procedures relating to the administrative management of files;
• Performs administrative and medical follow-up with the employee and the manager;
• Maintains the various management indicators.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
• Member in good standing of the O.I.I.Q;
• DEC in Nursing.
Experience:
• Two (2) years of experience as a nurse;
• Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in occupational health and safety;
• Experience in the Quebec health and social services network is an asset.
Knowledge and Abilities:
• Good knowledge of the laws and regulations of the MSSS;
• Good knowledge of the management of health and safety;
• Good knowledge of WHMIS;
• Excellent knowledge of applicable laws and regulations (including la Loi sur la santé et la sécurité du travail (LSST) et la Loi sur les accidents du travail et les maladies professionnelles (LATMP);
• Excellent interpersonal communication, leadership and teamwork;
• Rigor, judgment and autonomy.
Language:
• Fluent in English and French;
• Fluency in Cree is an asset.
