Description
SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
Person who draws up plans, specifications and other technical documents pertaining to plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration, Performs the required calculations, solves various problems related to the physical arrangement, installation and implementation constraints, prepares partial or complete projects estimates and cost evaluations. May ensure project follow up.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, and related systems.
• Test life-safety equipment and coordinate certified vendor inspections.
• Complete CMC-specific compliance tasks (e.g., eyewash logs, generator checks).
• Diagnose basic electrical and control issues; escalate when necessary.
• Close work orders in CMMS; meet response time targets, and handle seasonal tasks like winterization and roof monitoring.
• Support housing move-in/move-out inventories.
• Respects the practices, conduct, confidentiality and ethics expected of employees towards users, visitors and other employees.
• Read and interpret technical drawings for planning and isolations.
• Keep drawings and documentation updated after changes.
• Develop health and hygiene routines and specifications per standards.
• Advise on material choices for infection control in new projects.
• Provide technical support for capital projects and renovations, good "customer service" to all users and other staff, in order to foster organizational functioning and, indirectly, quality services to the population.
• Maintain supply inventories and ensure compliance with policies and best practices following Ministry Standards.
• Assists local communities in choices of products and equipment in regards to health and Hygiene.
• Assists in planning, preventive and, safety measures, in operations following sanitation and waste management, in facilities.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
• Must hold a college diploma (DEC) in building mechanics technology, architectural technology, civil engineering technology or another appropriate college discipline from a school recognized by the competent ministry.
Experience:
• Five (5) years of relevant experience.
Knowledge and experience:
• Knowledge of the regulations and norms for public buildings construction, operations, maintenance and management;
• Knowledge and experience in all building systems (structural, electrical, mechanical, water, HVAC, etc);
• Knowledge and experience in capital project construction planning, management, cost controls and monitoring;
• Ability to read plans/prints & schematics; use a CMMS; basic BMS familiarity;
• Ability to cooperate with the members of an operational project implementation team;
• Medium-advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Professional) - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint (tables, simple formulas, pivots, checklists, dashboards);
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills;
• Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written;
• Autonomous, flexible and discrete;
• Sense of accountability, analytical, and good judgment;
• Manual dexterity, good visual and hearing acuity, attention to detail;
• Able to adapt to schedule and working conditions changes;
• Able to adapt to schedule and working conditions changes.
Language:
• Fluent in English;
• Fluency in Cree-French is an asset.
Other:
• Valid driver’s license;
• Possibility of On-call;
• Willing to travel on an occasional basis.
