THE POSITION

The occupation of social worker or the social service officer includes, in particular, the diagnosis of the causes of abnormal social behaviour appearing in certain students or groups of students and the analysis of the influence of the social or family environment on the behaviour of these students and carrying out or assisting in the development of appropriate corrective programs for given situations.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The social worker or social service officer uses either an individual or a group approach to ensure the student reaches their full potential, particularly in matters of personal development and relationships with family and society.
  • Presents the recommendations judged appropriate to ensure the student benefits fully from their educational experience.
  • Creates a sense of awareness and motivation within the environment regarding socioeducational issues such as absenteeism.
  • Receives and analyzes requests for assistance, and after due research, applies the appropriate solutions, referring students to specialized organizations when necessary.
  • Keeps the case files for which responsible up to date.
