POSITION DESCRIPTION:

We are currently looking for a talented Nursing Assistant who cares about the residents' health.

The nursing assistant team administers medications and ensures that residents' files are updated in the computer system. They respond to emergencies and work closely with the Health Services Manager and other departments (kitchen, dining room, maintenance, reception, etc.). Permanent, full-time position, 40 hours per week, nights from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and every other weekend.


ROLE AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Administer medication in accordance with safety principles and the codes of ethics
  • Assist in evaluating and adjusting therapeutic nursing plans (TNPs) for residents requiring special clinical care
  • Collaborate with residents for medical visits
  • Contribute to the adjustment of a residents' action plan based on their observations
  • Create and maintain metuculous notes in the residents Dossier in accordance with the requirements of the Ordre des Infirmiers et Infirmières auxiliaires du Québec (OIIAQ)
  • Ensure good communication as well as medical follow-ups with the vested parties
  • Help maintain the relationship of trust with residents' family and friends as well as with various stakeholders (CLSC, CSSS, etc.)
  • Participate in health assessments of new residents or whenever it is required
  • Promote and advocate for proactive care among residents
  • Provide healthcare and wellness services to maintain and restore residents health and to help prevent illness
  • Respond to all emergency situations
  • Upon request by the residents doctor or pharmacist, update the residents medical dossiers and prescriptions
  • Upon requests from physicians, pharmacists or the CISSS, follow up on residents medical dossiers and prescriptions
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A proffesional studies dimploma (DEP) in health care assistance, nursing
  • PDSB training
  • Up to date CPR / AED training certificates
  • Member of the OIIAQ
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a similar position
  • Knowledge of senior residences, an asset
