We are seeking a highly skilled graphic designer to join the City of Mississauga’s Strategic Communications & Initiatives (SC&I) team. This role is design-focused and requires hands-on professional experience in graphic design.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Creative Services, the successful candidate will develop thoughtful design solutions that support the City’s communications, marketing, and business goals. The role specializes in visual communications and brand identity, including signage and wayfinding, internal and external campaigns, publications, and web and digital design.
You will work collaboratively with the Strategic Communications & Initiatives team, as well as project leads and senior leaders across the organization, to deliver creative, compelling, and effective designs. These designs will be applied across a range of digital and print platforms to support City initiatives and services.

The successful candidate will:
• Design and prepare artwork for a wide variety of design projects; social, web, screens, print, signage etc.
• Ensure all artwork meets AODA requirements.
• Work closely with internal departments to make design recommendations.
• Work within established timelines to ensure deadlines are met.
• Provide input into the selection process and use of outside design, illustration, photography, print/reproduction services ensuring cost-effectiveness is maintained, quality is attained and the timely delivery of final product.
• Work closely with the Print shop to ensure quality, cost-effective products.
• Direct photoshoots as required.
• Manage client relationships.
• Manage time, resources, documentation and administration of personal workload.
• Manage electronic filing of projects as part of the project process.
• Implement and maintain the Corporation's Visual Identity Program, ensuring correct logo usage.
• Keep current with changing trends in design and technology.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Must have 4-6 years in communication design experience with a university or college degree/diploma in Graphic Design.
• R.G.D. accreditation is considered an asset.
• The City of Mississauga is looking for an experienced graphic designer with excellent conceptual skills who can generate innovative and strategic design ideas.
• You must be able to design for various media, print and digital, execute them effectively and on time.
• This role includes working closely with internal clients from various business areas, strong and effective communication and presentation skills are required.
• You will have expertise in the most current Adobe design and web software.
• Must have AODA knowledge and how it applies to design and document creation.
• Prepress and print production experience is preferred.
• Must have solid project and time management skills and work well within a team environment.
Note: You will be required to submit a portfolio prior to the interview, if shortlisted.
Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 44.27 - $ 59.03
Hours of Work: 35
Work Model: This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring employees to be onsite in the office 3 days per week and allowing remote work for the remaining days. Specific in-office days may be set by the team or department to support collaboration and business needs.
