Chinook School Division requires a Supervisor of Maintenance and Facilities at the Chinook Education Centre in Swift Current. As a key member of the facility leadership team, the Supervisor of Maintenance and Facilities is responsible to the Manager of Facilities for implementation of the preventative and general maintenance for all school division buildings and grounds.

The Supervisor of Maintenance and Facilities shall perform such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, including but not restricted to, the following:

  • Dealing tactfully with students, staff and the public;
  • Assisting in plant operations and maintenance budget development;
  • Assisting with preparation of the three-year Preventative Maintenance and Renewal plan
  • Planning and implementing preventative maintenance programs for school division facilities;
  • Planning and implementing maintenance programs for the mechanical, electrical, and building systems;
  • Maintaining maintenance programs for grounds and yard site development;
  • Supporting schools with training for routine maintenance and cleaning on division facilities and grounds;
  • Working with contractors to provide and receive tenders for minor renovation projects;
  • Working with web based Facility Asset Planner program and work order systems;
  • Promoting the vision, mission, principles and goals of the Chinook School Division;
  • Providing maintenance services in appropriate trade areas;
  • Maintaining awareness of technical developments and enhancement in practices, equipment, supplies and materials; maintain awareness of codes and regulations and converse with inspectors for regulatory agencies within the area of accountability;
  • Supervising and evaluating maintenance staff;
  • Supporting facility operators, custodians and other facility staff with cleaning products, equipment and building systems.
  • Working safely in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and good trade practices;
  • Performing other duties as may be required or assigned by the Manager of Facilities.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of post secondary education in a discipline related to a facility trade, facility maintenance, business administration, or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience in administration and maintenance;
  • Completion or willingness to obtain and maintain Fireman’s Level Boiler Operator certificate;
  • Possess and maintain a valid Class V driver's license and acceptable driving abstract;
  • Previous experience managing, supervising and evaluating employees;
  • Previous experience planning and coordinating projects with contractors and major building trades;
  • Previous experience in the operation and maintenance of building system controls;
  • A good understanding of building design and associated building components;
  • General knowledge of facility regulations and applicable codes (I.e. National Building Code, National Fire Code, National Plumbing Code, National Energy Code, etc.);
  • The ability to accurately assess and read blueprints;
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace, including related tools and applications;
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task to resolve conflicts between competing priorities;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Good physical condition: Able to do heavy work (exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects).

  • Pay range: $85,393 to $107,352 per year
