The Youth Vaping, Alcohol, Substance use and Technology Dependence Program (Youth-VAST) is a provincial, early intervention and brief treatment program for youth aged 12-21 experiencing challenges related to vaping, alcohol, substance use, and technology dependence. Youth-VAST operates within an integrated clinical model that brings together expertise from the INTREPID Lab, Child, Youth and Emerging Adult Programs, and Acute Care Addictions Program.

The INTREPID Lab is a hub for research and health services programing on nicotine addiction. Our goal is to synthesize and discover new knowledge in the treatment of nicotine addiction, validate technology-mediated methods and processes for delivering treatment and use these methods to scale up research discoveries to health services programs through our network of over 350 primary- and community-care partner organizations. In meeting its objectives, the INTREPID Lab works with technology vendors, in addition to creating its own technology-based methods and protocols, for research and subsequent integration into health services programs.

Youth-VAST and the INTREPID Lab at CAMH are seeking a dedicated and organized Program Officer to join their team on a full-time contract (12 month) basis. Reporting directly to the Director of Innovation, Operations and Strategy, and with a dotted-line relationship to the INTREPID Lab team, this role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge work in youth substance use and digital health.

The Program Officer will play a key role in supporting and coordinating essential processes for Youth-VAST, a new clinical program at CAMH designed to support youth seeking treatment for vaping, substance use, and/or problematic technology use. The role will also contribute to select initiatives within the INTREPID Lab’s diverse portfolio, which includes clinical programs, research, quality improvement, education, and knowledge mobilization.

The Program Officer will be responsible for the following primary activities:

The candidate will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements. Additionally, the candidate will demonstrate a commitment to accountability: critical thinking, reflective practice and continuous learning. This position is located at CAMH’s 1025 Queen Street West site; this role may require occasional evening and weekend hours.

The successful candidate must have an undergraduate degree and 2+ years of related work experience in an administrative, coordination or research role, ideally in a public sector, academic, or healthcare setting. Familiarity with administrative processes related to program development, clinical research, education, and knowledge mobilization initiatives is essential.

The candidate should have demonstrated experience in developing and implementing projects and operational processes, and experience with change management. The candidate should also have excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills, and exemplary attention to detail. Experience working with youth-related programming is an asset but not required.
